Dries Van Noten encountered James Reeve’s work in 2010. The young English photographer was summoned to Antwerp to collaborate with the designer. Van Noten looked for the counterbalance of silhouettes from Italian and Spanish haute couture of the 1950′s.
The boleros, the swing backs, the sacks, ruffles, and bows, and the skirts with a structured flamenco flare, inevitably suggested Cristobal Balenciaga, the greatest Spanish couturier of them all. Catherine Greenup and her husband, who live in Sacramento, come to our stores, every 3 months, and create these fantastic window displays which are worth a visit to the store. They do all our stores over a period of 2 to 3 days and then move on. They have eleven accounts throughout the state and it keeps them very busy.
Catherine worked for us several years ago and left to move to Sacramento to be with her husband who was involved in fisheries – or fish farming. They have since teamed up, she is incredibly inventive and he has the skills to make her visions a reality.
These photos were taken early evening, unfortunately, we still have to compete with some background lights.
