Dries Van Noten Collection

Belgium designer, Dries Van Noten, has delivered his first glimpse of Fall to the dress shop and it’s selling fast.

Dries sought inspiration this time from the paintings of Francis Bacon and then translated the thoughts and feelings evoked by the artist into his garments.

This becomes clear in his choice of color palette, which comprise of dusty brights that contrast beautifully with taupe. Dries’ fabrics are luxurious and drape so sensationally on the body. The look is effortless and sophisticated which is true to his aesthetic.

According to the fashion legend, “In the end, clothes have to reflect what’s happening in the world. You start there, and then you dream the rest”.

The photograph features a beautiful woven silk blazer available in sizes 36-S, 38-M, 40-L in beige $1184 and a thin cotton blouse available in sizes 36-S, 38-M, 40-L in aqua and mustard $394.

Wendy Foster State Street

Before launching premium denim line, Citizens of Humanity in 2003, Parisian designer Jerome Dahan left his mark designing previous jeans line, such as 7 For All Mankind.

Propelled by an innate passion for denim, Dahan designed Citizens of Humanity with the ultimate fit and durability in mind.

Unparalleled in quality and perfection down to every seem, Citizen of Humanity jeans grabbed hold of the fashion world and became a staple in the traditional American wardrobe.

Despite extensive competition in the denim market and the failure of a myriad of jean lines, Citizens of Humanity has come out on top, remaining a thriving competitor in the fashion arena.

We are happy to welcome back Citizens of Humanity to our State Street location, and look forward to adding many pairs of their premium jeans to our closets!

Out of the Box
Pauw’s Fall 2009 collection

The first preview from Pauw’s Fall 2009 collection is here, and is even more elegant then ever. Designed in Amsterdam, the overall look is feminine, romantic, and playful as the luxurious pieces are meant to twist, poof, and flair. We also love that the collection is meant to be worn either formally or casually.

The colors this season are in a deep stunning palette of gun-metal greys and blues. The bubble bottom taffeta jacket with military buttons is particularly fabulous and we love the look with skinny pants and tall boots. And the Glory Skirt is as glorious as ever!
The first photograph features a bubble fitted jacket available in sizes 1,2,3,4 in Charcoal $998 and the glory long bubble skirt available in sizes 1,2,3,4 in Charcoal and Navy $998.

Wendy Foster Dress Shop, Montecito

Shourouk Rhaiem’s absolutely SPECTACULAR indian jewelry just arrived at the Dress Shop.  Her handmade pieces are a union of Swarovski crystals and silver sequins finessed with refined embroidery. Each glamorous one is extraordinary and beyond our imagination. Most recently, her collection accessorized the catwalks of the Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2009 runway show.

The inventive designer is inspired by the oriental embroideries of the Nabeul region of Tunisia where she grew up. “My jewels represent the emerging of my childhood universe – made of the traditional costumes my Tunisian grand-mother used to wear, with the silver sequins and sumptuous embroideries,” explains Shourouk. Come soon as each piece is one of a kind!

Current Eliot at Wendy Foster, Montecito

Super soft, raw, distressed, and just meant to look and feel authentic, Current Eliot jeans have ignited a craze at the Wendy Foster stores.  So far – we cannot keep the denim in stock fast enough here at the Dress Shop!

The designer duo, Emily Current and Meritt Elliott, are based in Los Angeles and developed this fantastic denim line when they realized they couldn’t quite find that exact ‘vintage’ rocker loose, slouchy, and broken-in pair of  jeans that they so craved with saddle shoes.  “We sort of woke up the whole vintage vibe, ” said Current. “It wasn’t our expectation. We just wanted to do something we loved”.

We currently carry their ’boyfriend’ jean, which is wonderfully slouchy and rolled up imperfectly at the bottom. The cut is matched by the comfort in a pair of jeans that we always dream of without sacrificing the look.  Current Eliot got it right!  Hope to see you soon..

Gypsy 05

Brother and sister duo, Osi and Dotan Shoham have been revitalizing nature through fashion with their line Gypsy05 since 2005. Their trademark maxi dresses are the ideal summer throw on and come in a multitude of colors and dye-designs.

With a background in the Los Angeles garment dye industry, Osi and Dotan focus largely on color and one of a kind designs that incorporate organic fabrics, low impact dyes, and water based printing.

Although we wouldn’t mind having one dress in every color due to its versatility and comfort, what we love most about the collection is its mission of environmental awareness. Nothing beats cute, easy clothing that makes the planet a better place!

Pictured are the newest colors available in the Maxi Victoria Dress (starting at 98.00)
